Environmental Public Inquiry

An environmental Public Inquiry is called if there are objections to the use of a particular site as an operating centre for Goods Vehicles. traffic commissioners may also consider the continued use of an operating centre every 5 years.

Complaints and objections can come from the occupiers of neighbouring properties or the local county council  who may object to the safety of the entrance  to the operating centre.

Often the objectors will be present at the hearing and the traffic commissioner will have to consider both sides of the story before making a decision on whether to grant the use of the operating centre or impose restrictions on how it is used.
